The Woodlands Shrine of Our Lady
The Shrine is located northeast of Scranton, PA, between Dushore and New Albany Pennsylvania. It is in the beautiful Appalachian Mountain range. The Shrine is at a fairly high altitude such that a person walking the paths can see many miles from certain plateau areas. There is a wooded path to walk where Stations of the Cross, wooden hand carved depictions of Jesus' walk to Calvary, are hung for prayer and meditation. Where the Stations of the Cross path ends is a large clearing where each mystery of all 4 sets of mysteries of the Holy Rosary are hung for prayer and meditation. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature in this retreat setting. The air is so fresh and peaceful. This is rolling mountain farm country, and has been for generations. Next to the Shrine is a large nature preserve which allows the wildlife to prosper. The Shrine is less than 15 minutes from both Dushore and New Albany, where there are restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, sleeping accommodations, and Catholic Churches. Everyone is welcome.
